Christie’s will offer the online Wine and Spirits auction through early April, presenting over 800 lots of both California and international wines. Several bottles of 1990 Petrus Pomerol are among the highlighted lots. Produced in the eastern area of the Bordeaux region, Pomerol is named not after a village but after a grassy hill in the area. Petrus is among the best-known wines from Bordeaux and is known for its complex aromas and smooth texture. In a 2020 tasting, the Wine Cellar Insider described the 1990 wine: “…full-bodied, opulent, concentrated and complex, the wine has density and lift coupled with a basket of just-picked cherries.” 12 bottles are included in this lot.
A bottle of Macallan whisky will also be offered in this sale. Distilled in 1976, this bottle comes in its original case. Macallan whisky has been produced in northeast Scotland since 1824, earning a reputation for flavor infused with carefully seasoned and monitored oak casks. For those interested in Japanese whisky, a 1981 bottle of Karuizawa whisky from the Noh series will be available. Several bottles of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon are presented as well. Visit Christie’s website to explore the full listings and place a bid.
