The Ramones Signed Motorcycle Jacket and Billy Joel Performance Piano Headline the Marvels of Modern Music Auction by RR Auction

Aesthetic, energy, and aggression coalesced in the Ramones, an American punk rock band formed in the Queens neighborhood in 1974. They are considered the first punk rock group. They took punk rock on its maiden voyage and started a rock band movement in the 1970s. A historic, autographed black leather stage-worn jacket personally owned by Dee Dee Ramone and CJ Ramone will soon be available in the Marvels of Modern Music Auction, presented by RR Auction. It is a Schott (418-453-474SM) motorcycle jacket worn by Dee Dee and CJ, the bass players for the legendary punk band. They have signed “Dee Dee Ramone” and “CJ Ramone” on the left and right lapels in silver ink. Dee Dee obtained this jacket not long after the band’s gear was stolen after a show at the Reseda Country Club in 1983. The jacket traveled the world with Dee Dee, who wore it exclusively during Ramones concerts until his final show in July of 1989. 

Billy Joel’s personally-owned and used 1908 C. Bechstein model M grand piano is also a top lot in the sale. Billy Joel is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He has sold over 160 million records worldwide. This piano was played live during Joel’s mid-1970s and 80s tours, most of which are recorded. Most notably, he played this piano during a BBC concert and is said to have used it to record the song “New York State of Mind.” Rock stars of Joel’s caliber often choose Bechsteins because their sound compliments the human voice, and the brand has a rich history since 1853.
