Rare and Limited Edition Works by Keith Haring and Frank Stella Come to Sale With Dane Fine Art
Apr 18, 2024 12:00 EDTAmerican Pop artist Keith Haring was known for his chalk illustrations on the walls of the New York City subway stations. A social activist, he used his animated graffiti art to advocate for LGBTQ rights and AIDS awareness. In 1988, Haring was diagnosed with AIDS. During this period, he created the iconic Apocalypse series that gave an insight into Haring’s fight against the virus in his final years. Plate 3 from this series is a key highlight of the upcoming sale from Dane Fine Art. Published by George Mulder Fine Arts, New York, it is an original serigraph on two-ply museum board from the limited edition of 90. Eskimo Curfew, an original color lithograph on paper by American artist Frank Stella, also leads the listings. From the rare limited PPI edition, the work belongs to the Exotic Bird series. The printmaker is celebrated for his post-painterly abstraction and minimalism.
French artist Louis Icart’s offered Fin de Dejeuner is an original oil on hardboard. His paintings were influenced by 18th-century artists such as François Boucher.
