Peter Marino Upholstered Sofa and Manubu Mabe Artworks Star in Upcoming Stair Auction
Sep 07, 2023 10:00 EDTStair presents a selection of decorative arts, furniture, fine art, and antiques in its upcoming September auction. Among the available French and American furniture pieces, a contemporary green and ivory upholstered three-seat sofa is a highlight. This leading lot has been designed by renowned American architect Peter Marino. The patterned sofa with round padded armrests is structurally sound. The backrest and seat cushions bear the same design.
Also offered in the sale is a group of five untitled color screenprints on woven paper. The artworks were rendered by Manubu Mabe (1924 – 1997), a Japanese Brazilian painter. Mabe worked as a vendor of hand-painted ties in São Paulo, Brazil before becoming a global artist. His works have been displayed at the São Paulo Contemporary Art Museum, the Boston Contemporary Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro, and many more. A variety of lighting, tableware, glassware, and timepieces will be a part of the auction.
