Many auctions have a clear theme that unites most of its lots. However, this is not always the case. As its name suggests, the Paintings, Furniture, Decorative Arts & Fine Rugs auction offered by Alex Cooper Auctioneers presents bidders with a diverse collection. This means potential bidders will need to do more work researching its lots, but it also opens the opportunity to find something completely unexpected. 

A copy of the Declaration of Independence by Peter Force is one of the most notable lots in this auction. The copy was produced in 1833 after John Quincy Adams expressed concern over the condition of the original document. Alex Cooper Auctioneers has no such worries about the condition of this copy, though, mentioning in the condition report that the document only has slight fold marks and wrinkles. 

Bidders should also consider a ceramic piece by Pablo Picasso, “Chouetton”. Made in 1952, it was part of an edition of 500. Finally, catching art patrons’ eyes due to its presentation instead of name-recognition is Joyce Tenneson’s polaroid photograph, “89 Lips”.
