Nye & Co. Presents Two-Day Sale of Fine Art, Classic Americana, Furniture, Collectibles, and More

This upcoming two-day auction from Nye & Co. features a variety of fine artworks, classic Americana, decorative art, furniture, and more. Leading the first day of the sale is Ruth Eastman’s oil on board cover illustration for Liberty magazine. Eastman illustrated active, confident women with bold colors and brilliant compositions. Their outfits were always stylish and looked like fashion plates. The offered work is dated 1924 and is framed. Additional lots of interest from the first day of the sale include a bronze sculpture by Mauro Corda, called L’Homme qui Marche (The Walking Man). While preserving classical and Modernist traditions, Mauro Corda’s figurative sculptures reflect his identity. 

Among the top lots in the second day of this event is a set of books on ukiyo-e and Japanese art. These books provide insights about the history and techniques of Japanese art. Bidders can also consider a 1777 hand-colored map of Venezia by Italian cartographer and publisher Antonio Zatta. This is an extensive world atlas issued in Italy during the 18th century. A Chippendale walnut lolling chair is notable among furniture lots. The upholstered armchair with a high back is designed to allow a comfortable recline.
