Noteworthy Artworks by Jacek Yerka and Nicola Simbari Highlight Helmuth Stone Gallery’s Upcoming Sale

Polish Surrealist Jacek Yerka was born into an artistically-inclined family. As a young boy, he preferred exploring drawing and sculpture to playing outdoors. The subjects of Yerka’s paintings usually include strange beasts and imaginative landscapes. One of his famous surreal designs is the imagery for the well-known science fiction film Strawberry Fields. The upcoming sale from Helmuth Stone Gallery will feature an original surrealistic painting by Jacek Yerka. Titled Metropolis II, the acrylic on canvas is signed and dated 1989. The work has been photographed and illustrated in the book Mind Fields- The Art of Jacek Yerka, the Fiction of Harlan Ellison. A René Magritte artwork, titled Salon de Mai, is also of interest. The color lithograph on paper is a tribute to the historic association of French artists.

Italian painter Nicola Simbari’s monumental-sized oil on canvas, Clown Horse, also leads the listings. Simbari uses vibrant hues and intense tones to create a sense of depth and achieve a dramatic effect. The artist was brought up in Rome, where his father worked as an architect for the Vatican. Simbari’s exposure to architecture greatly influenced his work.
