Modern Furniture by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller Leads Showplace Antiques’ Upcoming Sale

Charles Eames and Ray Eames were industrial designers who contributed greatly to modern architecture and furniture. Herman Miller is the sole authorized manufacturer of furniture designs by the American couple for all markets, with the exception of Europe and the Middle East. The upcoming sale, offered by Showplace Antiques, will feature a Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller mid-century modern lounge chair and ottoman. It is fashioned with a wooden frame and tufted black leather upholstery, swivel bases, and Herman Miller label on the underside. Another striking contemporary piece is an Italian modern mosaic glass sideboard cabinet. It is adorned with a geometric design in reverse painted glass panels in black, white, blues, and grays. The cabinet has two central doors opening to two shelves, flanked by two doors with two short drawers above. With brass bar pulls, the body is mounted on four tapered gold-tone brass legs. 

An Isamu Noguchi Akari series model UF3-Q modernist sculptural floor lamp also leads the listings. It features the Washi paper on bamboo ribbing and metal frame structure, with markings and the designer’s signature on the shade.
