Hindman’s upcoming sale will feature furniture from several modern and contemporary designers, from Paul Evans and Edward Wormley to Frank Lloyd Wright and Gio Ponti. Highlighted in this auction is a pair of sculptured metal lounge chairs by Evans. A leading figure of the American Studio Furniture movement of the 1960s, Evans worked primarily with metals. To achieve his signature technique, he first applied epoxy resin over a steel frame. He then sculpted the resin in freehand form, sandblasted it, and finally coated it with atomized bronze. The available chairs retain their original upholstery.
Frank Lloyd Wright was a leading American architect and designer in the 20th century. Wright’s furniture was closely linked to his architectural designs, creating many customized pieces during his career. This sale offers an executive office chair designed by Wright in 1956. Made with enameled cast aluminum, leather, and rubber, the available piece is one of three known examples. Two Hugh Acton sofas in red and brown colors from the Ebony/ Jet Collection and a dining suite by Edward Wormley can also be found. View the entire collection and register to bid on Bidsquare.
