The first day of the upcoming Select auction presented by the Millea Brothers will begin a twice-yearly sales event of fine and decorative art, furniture, and Asian works of art from private estates. Of particular interest in this sale is a selection of furniture and jade pieces from the collection of Robert and Beatrice (Buddy) Mayer. These two collectors aided the growth of contemporary art in Chicago during the mid-20th century, patronizing rising artists and reinvesting in underserved communities. Two matching low tables will be featured from their collection, topped with round marble and Chinese jade flowers in relief.
Several pieces of jewelry will be highlighted in the sale, including a white gold, sapphire, and diamond bracelet. An 18 karat white gold and diamond jewelry suite will also be available. Designed in a family-run jewelry boutique in Capri, a small island off the coast of Naples, the suite includes a stretch bracelet, a pair of clip earrings, and a necklace.
