When Carl Benz drove the first two-stroke unit Mercedes vehicle on New Year’s Eve 1879, it marked the birth of the modern automobile. This vehicle, propelled by an internal combustion engine, went on to become a huge success. Today, Mercedes-Benz is recognized as one of the leading car brands still in production. A 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing is among the highlights of the upcoming Kissimmee 2021 sale, offered by Mecum Auctions.
A Shelby GT350R Fastback is also showcased in the auction. This automobile is one of only 34 examples produced in 1965. Following the downfall of the 1964 Mustang sports coupe, an updated Shelby GT350R was launched in 1963. “As the first Shelby GT350R [to be] built, this particular car is said to have details that are unique to it, as well as the history of tens of thousands of development miles at Shelby,” comments Motortrend. The auction of 2,128 lots also brings a 1971 Plymouth Cuda convertible and a 1970 Ford Torino Twister Special. To view more items and register to bid online, visit the Mecum Auctions website.
