Several pieces from Margaret Keane’s painting series will be on offer in the upcoming Fine & Decorative Arts Monthly Online Auction, including an oil on canvas titled The Witness. Best known for her portraits of children with big eyes, Keane found inspiration in the works of Amedeo Modigliani. Her oil and mixed media paintings mostly capture women, children, and animals.
Also highlighted in this Heritage Auctions sale is a sculpture by Glenna Goodacre, an American sculptor. She became widely known shortly after the making of the Vietnam Women’s Memorial, a bronze sculpture of three uniformed women and a wounded serviceman. The available piece from 1998 depicts a crouched woman in bronze. This auction also highlights a landscape painter, Robert William Wood, known for his scenes of the California coastline and rocky mountain landscapes. Abstract work from Mabel Alvarez and a nude portrait from Étienne Adolphe Piot can also be found. Visit Heritage Auctions’ website to view the complete catalog and register to bid.
