Edward Hopper’s 1923 Etching and George Rickey’s Stainless Steel Sculpture Come to Auction

A particular highlight is a piece by Edward Hopper. Regarded as one of the most influential American realist artists, Hopper’s 1923 original etching titled The Locomotive will be on offer. It belongs to an edition of less than 100, and the artist’s pencil sign is visible in the lower right-hand corner.
George Rickey’s stainless steel sculpture is also featured in this event. Produced in 1977, Six Lines in an L features six stainless steel blades attached to a slender vertical pole. The metal parts move in response to the slightest air currents. The American sculptor is famous for his kinetic sculptures characterized by unpredictable movement. Also available is Arthur Beecher Carles’ oil on canvas titled Dancers from 1927. An American Modernist painter, Carles adopted various styles throughout his career, including Fauvism, Realism, and Abstract Expressionism. Other notable lots include a drawing by R. B. Kitaj, a glass sculpture by Harvey K. Littleton, and a suite of lithographs by Robert Rauschenberg.
