In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Ernest Trova was among the best-known sculptors in America. Over time, examples of his art were prominently exhibited in dozens of important museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. The upcoming Eclectic Collection of Estates Worldwide auction offered by Akiba Antiques will highlight one of his Modernist works, titled Flap Man.
Another item available in the sale is the work of Jules Didier, a French landscape and genre painter. Didier’s interest crossed various themes and mediums— executing paintings, lithographs, and watercolors with mythological, biblical, and animal subjects. Available in this sale is the artist’s depiction of a traveler on a horse being greeted by a man and several animals. The auction will also feature a Gucci alligator skin trunk and a pair of palace-sized Chinese cloisonne censors. To find more information and register to bid, visit Bidsquare.
