Dane Fine Art to Feature Jeff Koons’ Fisherman Golfer, Julian Opie’s Artwork

American artist Jeff Koons is famous for his playful, bold sculptures and paintings. Born on January 21, 1955 in York, Pennsylvania, Koons rose to fame in the 1980s. He studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and graduated from the Maryland Institute of Art in 1976. His porcelain sculpture Michael Jackson and Bubbles from 1988 is still considered iconic. His other best-known pieces include the Made in Heaven (1990 – 1991) series, Puppy (1992), and Balloon Swan (2017). Fisherman Golfer, produced in 1986 by Jeff Koons, leads the upcoming auction from Dane Fine Art. The artwork, rendered in Neo-Pop Art style, is from Koons’ Luxury and Degradation series. The series was conceived during one of his trips to the New York subway. 

British sculptor and digital artist Julian Opie is represented in another leading lot. Opie’s Carmen and Fabien is an archival museum board relief collage presented in sprayed white frames. Created in 2024, this work is from the rare limited edition of 50. It is signed and numbered to label on the back. It features standing couples. Born in London, Opie is associated with minimalist portraits and animations. He is known for incorporating digital techniques in art such as LED screens and computer software.
