Christie’s Brings Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot’s Work to Upcoming European Art Auction

Born in 1796, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot was a French painter who is celebrated for his depictions of landscapes. Most of his works were inspired by Impressionism. Corot contributed to the art world by pioneering a new landscape painting style named the Souvenirs in the 1860s. His style often incorporated a lake and trees painted in a silver hue. One of his works is presented in the forthcoming European Art auction, hosted by Christie’s. The oil on canvas piece shows a scenic view of a lake.  

One of the highlighted lots is Lord Frederic Leighton’s Samson and Delilah. Leighton was among the most influential artists of the Victorian era. Besides being known for his paintings, he was also eminent for starting a new movement in British sculpture in his late career. Neoclassicism became his trademark over his oeuvre.
