The second part the Tibor Collection, available in the upcoming Chinese Export Art auction offered by Christie’s, provides a range of porcelain and paintings from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The artistic styles presented in this sale range across the Kangxi, Qianlong, and Wanli empires. Among the key lots is a pair of large famille rose soldier vases and covers. Christie’s details each vase’s “… large phoenix amidst a profusion of fantastic flowers blossoming in a terraced garden landscape.”
A set of three sculpted cranes with metal legs is featured as well. Two of the cranes hold their heads high while the third’s head is bent towards the ground. Also included in this sale is a Chinese Imari soldier vase from the Kangxi period and a set of five matching vases from the Yongzheng period.
