Popular for not leaving free space and adding plenty of elements to his work, Alfonso Michel was one of the pioneers of Generación de la Ruptura (The Ruptured Generation). “The Photographer” by Michel will be available in the upcoming Mexican Art Auction by Morton Subastas this October. From 1945, this painting represents Michel’s signature style. It is a portrait of Lola Álvarez Bravo, a Mexican photographer.
Lots in this auction come from several notable artists, including Jorge González Camarena and José Chávez Morado. One painting with a high estimated value is a piece by Arnold Belkin. This mixed media on canvas is a triple portrait that pays tribute to Felipe Ángeles. Ángeles was a Mexican military officer, noteworthy for his participation in the Mexican Revolution of 1910 to 1920.
