Freeman’s Auction presents Books, Maps & Manuscripts. This auction offers reading material and visuals for history enthusiasts and book lovers alike. Featured in the auction are four sheets of paper joined together to form a 1775 map of the sixth state of the United States, Virginia. Included in this map is the whole Province of Maryland and parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina.
Manuscripts and partially printed documents from George Ross, a founder of The Furnace and Forge and signer of the Declaration of Independence are also available. Seven of these documents are signed by Ross. There are also two letters, one of which is an autographed letter from George Stevenson, a prominent surveyor, and lawyer) to Ross. A collection of 18 signatures of the Nuremberg defendants are also showcased. John J. Pankosky, a member of the U.S. Army’s 26th Infantry Regiment, collected the signatures using a tourist guide of the city, Nurnberg.
