Bonhams Offers Works from American Artists Including Milton Avery

In the upcoming American Art auction, Bonhams will showcase March with Doves by Avery. The oil on canvas work from circa 1940 depicts a blonde woman surrounded by white doves. 

Among several American artworks, the online auction offers Robert Henri’s La Mora. “In La Mora, Henri successfully portrays a real cultural figure whom he felt represented the authentic identity of Spain and is masterfully balanced with realist and romantic notions,” Bonhams pointed out. Henri is recognized as one of the pioneers of Ashcan School of American Painters. The art movement was known for its portrayal of realism of daily life in New York through oil paintings.
