Australian Art – Online

Australian art — whether Aboriginal, colonial, or landscape—has been explored by painters, printmakers, photographers, and sculptors alike. The continent’s art has been greatly influenced by European Modernism and contemporary art movements. Christie’s will present a selection of Australian fine art in the upcoming online auction, ranging from antique to contemporary. Included are works from native residents and pieces from those who simply visited Australia. 

Among the top lots of the auction is an oil painting by Australian artist Rupert Charles Wulsten Bunny. This 1908 painting, titled Le Rossignol, depicts two young ladies seated by a window. Standing beside them, a woman gazes at the water. Another featured oil painting is by Portuguese artist Arthur José de Souza Loureiro. The available piece is titled Two Friends and shows a young girl sitting with her dog. Other highlighted artists include John Peter Russell, Dick Roughsey, and Kevin Leslie Connor.
