Austin Auction Gallery Presents Four-Day Sale of Fine Art, Jewelry, Asian Antiques, and More

Austin Auction Gallery’s upcoming four-day sale features a variety of fine artworks, decorative art, jewelry, Asian antiques, and more. Leading the first day of the sale is an abstract studio art glass vase from Brooklyn-based artist Eric Rubinstein. The available piece is dated 2009 on the underfoot with an etched signature of the artist. For the artist, suspending objects and images within a vessel’s walls is a magical experience. Rubinstein creates vessels that evoke the atmosphere of undersea landscapes with abstract imagery. Another notable lot in the catalog is a pair of studio art glass inkwell paperweights by Tennessee artist Damon MacNaught. The artist is known for his millefiori glass paperweights. “Arranging murrini under the magnification of the glass dome speaks to properties inherent in the material and allows an outlet to practice my love of design,” states Damon MacNaught.

Among the highlights of the second day of this event is a silkscreen print by Pedro Friedeberg. The sculptural furniture, paintings, and prints of Pedro Friedeberg are noted for their Surrealist aesthetic. The artist describes this detailed representational work as City of a Million with 25 Hard Boiled Eggs. This humorous artwork depicts eggs occupying the city by replacing statues, occupying rooftops, and nestling under buildings. The artist’s pencil signature and number appear on the screenprint. Additional lots available in the auction include an English carved oak bracket clock from Caramer & Kuss, a Victorian silverplate and cut-glass biscuit barrel, and more.
