Scottish actor Sir Sean Connery was the first to portray James Bond in the eponymous movies. He used a Walther PP handgun in the debut Bond film, Dr. No (1962). The silhouette of the weapon went on to become associated with the iconic character. The upcoming Icons & Idols Trilogy: Hollywood auction, presented by Julien’s Auctions, will feature the very same Walther PP pistol used in Dr. No. The lot includes a certificate of deactivation issued by The London Proof House, a letter of provenance from BAPTY, and a DVD.
Another key lot is a fighter pilot helmet used by Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the film Top Gun (1986). The helmet was designed by Flight Suits, Ltd. and was personalized with eagle decals, red and white stripes, and “Maverick” written along the front. The sale also features an original Leonardo Ninja Turtle animatronic head, made of foam latex, from the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993). With a mobile mouth and eyes, the mechanical head is still functional. To view the complete catalog and register to bid online, visit Julien’s Auctions.
