Antique, Vintage and Collectible Button Auction – Day 1

Among diverse collectors, the upcoming Whitley’s auction grabs the attention of worldwide button collectors. Whitley’s Auctioneers put forth their well-selected button collections in their two days auction. The first day of the auction presents a rare molded black glass “Quasimodo” button. Quasimodo, a character from Victor Hugo’s novel “Notre Dame de Paris,” is pictured in the matte-finished button. 

Also featured is a set of 6 Satsuma buttons. These hand-painted buttons are among the finest examples of Japanese pottery. The designs of these buttons often consist of native plants and flowers from the native Satsuma region of Japan. Other highlights include a set of Silver filigree priest robe buttons and a selection of buttons from the Motiwala Brothers from India. Collectors can also find buttons offered from the private collections of Dorothy Tunnison, Peg Eastlund, Cathey Solheim, and Florida State Society Past President Gayle Salmon.
