Albert Marquet Painting, Murano Paperweight Available in Timed December Sale

Miami Auction Gallery’s upcoming sale offers a wide-ranging catalog of fine art, decorative art, jewelry, and collectibles. Among the top lots is an oil on canvas painting by French artist Albert Marquet, a key figure in the Fauvist movement. Marquet’s paintings display an understanding of light, color, space, and volume with short brushstrokes. As with the Impressionists, Marquet often used muted shades of blue and gray as his color palette. Another notable artwork in the catalog is a mixed media on canvas from Alexis Leyva, also known as Kcho. Leyva uses recycled materials, such as bottles and lumber from docks, to portray boats and boat-like objects. His sculptures incorporate many Cuban symbols and objects of everyday life.

The Murano glassmaking tradition is known for its vivid colors, distinctive designs, and centuries-old methods of manufacturing. The variety of visual effects Murano glass produces contributes to its popularity as an art form. Bidders can also consider Salvador Corratge’s ink-on-board work from the Fragments From a Symphony series, a hand-painted ceramic plate by Carol Dubin, and a wood carving by Pedro Vega Francia.
