German-American painter Albert Bierstadt (1830 – 1902) was renowned for depicting lush landscapes and grandeur of the American West. He completed over 500 artworks during his lifetime. Bierstadt developed a flair for art at a young age, when he made crayon sketches. His most significant work remains The Rocky Mountains, Lander’s Peak, rendered in 1863. One of Bierstadt’s major artworks titled Catskill Creek is a key highlight of the upcoming auction from George Cole Auctions & Realty. The signed painting captures Catskill Creek, one of the major tributaries to the Hudson River Estuary. The art emphasizes the artist’s fascination with nature and Western landscapes.
