20th Century Art + Design

From Surrealism to optical art, John Moran Auctioneers offers a wide variety of fine art pieces in their upcoming 20th Century Art + Design auction. This includes works from the eras of Modernism, Impressionism, and abstract art, in addition to pieces of furniture, decorative art, and sculpture. One featured lot in this auction is a painting by Alexander Calder. He was not only famous for his sculpting, but also for his contributions to the Surrealist and abstract art movements of the 20th century. His untitled watercolor painting featured in the auction shows various objects and shapes on a yellow background. 

Also available is a work from Julian Stanczek, who was one of the founders of the optical art, or Op Art, movement. A Stanczek oil painting is presented in this sale. Titled Accompanying Warm, rows of colored squares are arranged to trick the eye. Works from artists such as Paola Soleri, Bradford Salamon, Mabel Alvarez, and Luis López will be at auction as well.
