1948 Willys Jeepster and Nantucket Baskets Available With Rafael Osona Auctions

The forthcoming Early Summer Auction from Rafael Osona Auctions will present over 700 lots of fine art, decorative art, furniture, and collectibles. Leading the catalog is a 1948 Red Willys Jeepster. Produced for just three years by Willys-Overland Motors, this vehicle was designed to meet the utilitarian needs of civilians following World War II. It had rear-wheel drive, a manual transmission, and a sleek design. The offered Jeepster sports a cherry red exterior with a cream and red interior. This upcoming sale will also highlight a selection of Nantucket friendship baskets. These woven wood baskets have been closely associated with the Nantucket area for centuries. Notable from this section of the catalog is a Nantucket friendship basket woven by Stephen Gibbs; it features an ebony top and carved sperm whale on the lid. 

Among fine art lots in the sale, an oil on canvas painting by American artist Donald Jurney is of particular interest. Titled Lakescape, this signed work shows the edge of a lake, bordered by leafy trees and shrubs. Jurney specializes in landscapes modeled after Dutch styles and the Hudson River School. His works embrace the everyday beauty of natural scenes. Paintings by Joan Albaugh, Robert Jones, and Paul Arsenault will be available as well. Rounding out the catalog are strands of South Sea and Tahitian pearls, assorted furniture items, and rugs.
