A 19th century two part Japanese Manju:
1 Large wood and Shakudo Japanese Netsuke-Manju. These round carved pieces from Japan known as a Manju or Kagamibuta in some cases are a form of the Netsuke that was used on the Inro, the compartmentalized box worn on the Japanese sash. This wonderful example is a two part piece as the top and bottom separate from each other. The cord that was tied to the Inro is typically attached on the top inside part of the Manju and threaded through a hole (which can be seen in these images) through the bottom part. This example shows a Japanese metal works piece known as Shakudo work with inlaid gold and accented with lacquer. This came from the famous button collection of Eugenie Lydecker of Connecticut. Some of you may still recall of part of her collection being sold in 1980. She had amassed a fabulous collection of which some were given to children and grandchildren. We purchased part of the collection from a grandson many years ago and now a granddaughter has decided to sell as well.

A div.1 very rare Political George Washington Button:
1 Large 18th century GW inaugural button in a rare design. This authentic button from the time of George Washington’s inaugural was purchased in the 1960’s by the then President of the National Button Society Grace Toalson ( years in office 1965 & 66), she purchased the button from Dewey Albert , who is the author of the book button collectors call the bible to Historical and political buttons. This button has been housed in this frame (pictured) with Grace Toalsons’s name, address and phone number ever since. The rarity we are told of this example is the Dotted script GW center. Although the dots are a little worn the experts have told us that it is of little concern for the rarity of this design. The dotted script GW center is bordered by the words “LONG LIVE THE PRESIDENT” If you have ever wanted a rare GW inaugural, now is your time to own a great historical button both in the United States history but also for those in the button society, a historically owned example by one of the past presidents. A wonderful button indeed.

A division three studio artist button:
1 Large 20th century realistic Plique A Jour enamel butterfly. Here is an incredible artist made button in silver and enamel. Look at the beautiful colors used by the artist and the fine detail in the heavy silver base. It is signed on the back on the left wing at the lower part and is signed Sue B.
