Of fangyi shape, the tapering sides are decorated with stylized taotie masks reserved on a leiwen ground, and a pair of outward-curved handles rise from the narrow sides. The base is decorated with C-scrolls repeated on the top of the cover which is centered by a seated lion finial above openwork, conjoined cash motifs on the canted sides. Comes fitted with a wooden stand. Height: 6 ” . Provenance: The Rende Zhai (House of Benevolent Learning) Collection, 1949-70s, in the United States before 1990.

A 19th century Robert Freres french marble & bronze large candelabra. Features an urn shaped purple gray veined marble body, further embellished with eight arms candelabras of gilt dore bronze with ornate foliate design, and floral garland bronze motifs. The tall candelabra sits atop a pedestal footed base with floral decorations and lion paws motif. It is signed “Robert Fres Sculpes” with a Susse Freres foundry mark.
