Wooden chest featuring a locking, hinged top opening to a vast, vacant interior. Piece is decorated with geometric parquetry and elaborate molding throughout including column designs flanking the iron handles on either side. Embellished with applied wooden sculptures of flowers, fruit, and foliage and of two goddesses (possibly Demeter/Ceres)-one with two small children, one with a sheaf of wheat. Mounted on a base finished with parquetry and molding matching that of the chest. Key included.
