Wright to Feature Works by Richard Estes, Roy Lichtenstein, and Other 20th-Century Artists

One of the leading lots from the sale is an artwork by Richard Estes titled D-Train. Rendered in 1988, this work is a color screenprint on museum board. Estes was born in 1932 in Kewanee, Illinois. He is famous for his geometric landscapes and photorealist paintings. According to the auction catalog, the available lot is number five from an edition of 125, published by Parasol Press, Ltd., New York. It is the largest print by the artist and measures roughly three feet by six feet.
American Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein (1923 – 1997) rose to prominence in the 1960s with his groundbreaking comic strips and advertisements. He is associated with postmodernism and the Pop Art movement. Born in New York, Lichtenstein pursued music and art at a young age. At 16, he enrolled in summer classes at the Art Students League and worked under the guidance of Reginald Marsh. His 1974 Yellow Still Life (from the Six Still Lives series) is available in this auction. It is a lithograph and screenprint in colors on BFK Rives paper. A similar example of this work is in the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles. Other notable items up for sale are a lithograph in colors titled International Youth Year from Keith Haring (1958 – 1990), a screenprint titled Black Scarf by Alex Katz, and a 1973 portfolio comprising several screenprints, lithographs along with a photograph and a photocopy.
