Works by Bill Traylor and Rare Chinese Vases Available in Fine and Decorative Art Auction
Sep 26, 2021 13:00 EDTOver 500 lots of fine art, antiques, Chinese porcelain, estate jewelry, original illustrations, and more will be available in the upcoming Important Fine & Decorative Art Auction, presented by Helmuth Stone Gallery. Highlighting the catalog is a blue and white Chinese meiping vase with a Qianlong mark on the bottom. The rare tall vase features broad shoulders and a small mouth. The surface is painted in blue and white and depicts dragons chasing flaming pearls. This type of vase was often used to display plum blossoms.
A set of stick figure drawings by American artist Bill Traylor is also available. Bill Traylor’s artwork gained popularity several years after his death. His abstract and penciled renditions of people and animals particularly stood out in the 1982 exhibition of Black Folk Art in America. An artwork titled The Judge by Theodule Augustin Ribot (1823 – 1891) is on offer as well. To view the full catalog or place a bid, visit Bidsquare.
