Each item, featured in the curation of 567 lots, carries a unique story in its own irreplaceable form from the sea. Amongst the highlighted item is an oil on panel by James Edward Buttersworth, of a historic Macedonian ship used in wars by the royal marine until 1812 before it was captured by the USS United States. Likewise, the range of the auction is extensive as it features items like a whaleship agent’s wooden document box from The Sharon and a pair of scrimshaw whale’s teeth with walrus ivory and whalebone stand from the Mid-19th Century. Both teeth consist bust portraits of men in uniform. With estimates ranging from $200 – $380,000, the auction is consists of something for everyone.
