Joel Harris’s love of Oz began as a child, and he never outgrew it. He was a member of the International Wizard of Oz Club for over 40 years and the Director of Special Publications for the club for 20. His interest in the book inspired part 2 of Return to Oz: The Joel Harris Collection, an auction offered by Turner Auctions.
One of the featured Oz lots is a limited-edition Robert Sabuda pop-up, #13 of 50. The limited edition includes a signed and numbered print of the Wicked Witch, #108 of 150, and a first trade edition of the book, as new and still sealed. Early editions by L. Frank Baum and a limited-edition Oz the Hundredth Anniversary Celebration edited by Peter Glassman with 31 autographs are also available at the sale.
Harris also had a broad interest in collectible books. Exhibited examples are the first British edition of The House at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne, artists edition of Miracle in Seville by James Michener, signed the first edition Madeline books by John Bemelmans Marciano, and more. View any of these lots and register to bid on Bidsquare.
