Written by Charles Phair, the book was published by the renowned Derrydale Press in 1937. The available lot is one of just 40 copies assembled. The book covers old and new ways of salmon fishing, flies and their uses, fishing the wet and dry fly, and related topics. It is accompanied by a separate matching case containing 14 card mounts. While two display salmon hooks and leaders, the remaining 12 present 14 complete flies and their components.
The first English edition of Expedition to the Rocky Mountains by American botanist Edwin James is another leading lot. Published in three volumes, the book details James’ expedition from Pittsburgh to the Rocky Mountains performed in 1819 and 1820. Several illustrations and scenic photographs feature in the edition. Also up for bid is an illustrated manuscript titled Trouting along a Tributary of the Lehigh by Benjamin Marriott and original works by Julien Cain (Lithographs of Chagall) and Robert Frost (West-Running Brook).
