Postwar Travel Advertisements, Posters, and More From Potter & Potter

For collectors interested in American and European travel advertisements from the postwar period, Potter & Potter Auctions’ upcoming Vintage Posters, Prints & Works on Paper sale offers a strong showing. Posters in the auction include advertisements for airlines, railroads, ocean liners, and worldwide tourist destinations. One of the sale’s featured lots is a 1952 Union Pacific poster depicting Vegas Vic from the Las Vegas cowboy neon sign. The piece also shows the slogan “play ‘round the clock” and an accordion photo album of things to do in Las Vegas. Other available posters include a 1958 TWA advertisement for flights to Los Angeles and a 1928 Statendam / Holland-American Line cruise poster with almost abstract representations of the ship. 

Beyond travel, the sale includes French Art Nouveau and La Belle Epoque posters, as well as propaganda, circus, magic, movies, music, and entertainment works on paper. The sale also offers a selection of fine art, illustration, art books, prints, and graphic ephemera. Two notable examples are an art print of the complete suite of The Seasons by Alphonse Mucha, and the painting Noonline Blaze by Australian artist Tim Storrier.
