The upcoming Modern & Contemporary Art auction presented by Heritage Auctions includes artworks from Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Modernism, and more. The sale is led by a figural painting from Wayne Thiebaud, an American painter. Throughout his career, Thiebaud continually explored still life paintings of everyday objects and edible treats. In this auction, his oil painting of two rows of pie slices is featured. 

The sale will also highlight an artist whose work is associated with the development of Chinese Political Pop Art – Guangyi Wang. His canvases address the conflict between China’s political past and Western consumerism and advertisements. One of Wang’s works from his ‘Great Criticism’ series can be found in this collection. The traditional Chinese figures painted in this piece resemble famous symbols of Western commercialism. An abstract painting by Franz Kline will also be on offer.
