In the 20th Century, designers such as Ico Parisi, Alexander Girard, and Charles and Ray Eames, reminded people that art need not simply be displayed in a frame, it can appear in everyday objects. The Mass Modern auction, presented by Wright, offers the work of the Eames partners, Parisi, Girard, and other important 20th and 21st Century designers. There is no reserve on lots in this auction, meaning collectors have a chance to get one or more pieces at an exceptionally low cost. 

A custom library by Italian designer and architect Ico Parisi is among the most notable lots. In his time, Parisi was one of the most important Italian furniture designers and had a clear Modernist aesthetic. The library was designed for an apartment in Como, Italy, and features both upper and lower cabinets, a desk with one concealed drawer, and a rolling trolley. A set of tableware by Alexander Girard is another piece with a high estimated value. The set comes with three mugs and one match strike. The piece was discussed at length in the 2011 book “Alexander Girard” by Todd Oldham and Kiera Coffee. 

One of the most visually striking pieces in the auction is a classy lounge chair by Charles and Ray Eames. They were a married couple and a team of industrial designers. In 1985, The Industrial Designers Society of America named them the most influential designers of the 20th Century for their lifetime accomplishments.
