Marilyn Monroe Check Register and Pelé-signed Jerseys Lead Julien’s Upcoming Sale

An iconic actor, singer and model, Marilyn Monroe was an influential celebrity who made use of her public image. A black wire-bound checkbook issued for Monroe’s personal account at Irving Trust Company, New York City is a key highlight of the upcoming sale, presented by Julien’s Auctions. Labeled “Marilyn Monroe (Personal) / Irving Trust Co. / 4/6/61 – to – 7/14/61,” it has check numbers 1652 through 1765. The notebook also includes two loose pages featuring other financial calculations. Recipients of payments from her account included Dr. James Kenney, Vendome, and Hermans Empire Moving & Storage. 

Another striking lot is a reference model from the production of Michael Jackson’s anthology film Moonwalker. With a sharp jawline and cheekbones, the model features silver paint over a fiberglass and plaster body. This model served as a guide for design throughout the transitional shots of a sequence in the movie. The lot also includes a DVD of the film. Additionally, the sale features several noteworthy Pelé-signed jerseys and a boxed set auction catalog from a limited-edition of 500.
