Library of a Midwestern Collector

The Library of a Midwestern Collector auction is a selection of vintage and contemporary books offered by Hindman. Works by Charles Darwin, Euclid, Galileo Galilei, James Joyce, Isaac Newton, J. K. Rowling, and Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton are particularly featured. Volumes on science, technology, mathematics, literature, economics, and the social sciences will be available.

Among the sale’s offerings is a first edition copy of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. This copy of his seminal work on natural selection remains in good condition. Also of note is a signed, first edition copy of Ulysses by James Joyce. One of the first 1,000 copies made, this book was printed on handmade paper. A more contemporary offering included in this auction is an early edition of the first Harry Potter novel, signed by J.K. Rowling less than three months after its publication.
