Hyperrealistic Carole Feuerman Sculpture and Danish Modern Furniture Lead Salmagundi Club Benefit Auction

“I’m idealizing the human form, it’s not life as it really is. It is more dreamlike, a magical state of how I want it to be,” Carole Feuerman has stated about her art. She combines Hyperrealism and other techniques to create distinct sculptures. Hyperrealism is an art movement that started in the 1960s in the United States and is kept alive by contemporary artists like Feuerman. A sculpture of a woman in a sweater and scarf by Carole Feuerman is a key lot in the Salmagundi Benefit & December Great Estates Auction, hosted by Willow Auction House. The first 115 lots will raise funds to refurbish the 150-year-old non-profit Salmagundi Club. 

The auction includes more than 300 lots of mid-century and Danish modern furniture, jewelry, silver, artwork, bronzes, rugs, and decorative items. Among them is a Peter Løvig Nielsen Modern flip-top desk. This Danish mid-20^th century teak desk has four drawers, flip-top storage with divided compartments, and two removable trays. It comes with an original key and a designer stamp. The auction also includes Roman and Williams-designed furniture, an Arne Norell Kontiki sofa, and a pair of Don S. Shoemaker sling slouched chairs. Fine art collectors can find a Sol LeWitt silkscreen, several paintings by Mylo Quam, and mixed media pieces from Marcelo Bonevardi. Rolex watches, an Anton Michelsen sterling flatware set, a Nepali deity neckpiece, and a Chinese bronze and jade box are available among collectibles.
