The Whisky & Whiskey – The Camouflage Collection Part II auction, offered by Sotheby’s, features an assortment of legendary bourbons and rye whiskies, plus rare Macallan Distillery bottles, some older than 50 years. Leading the collection is a Macallan 72-year-old in a Lalique crystal decanter. Whisky of this exceptional quality in Lalique symbolizes a new era for the brand, combining masters across whisky, crystal, architecture, and craftsmanship. The spirit was first produced in the 1940s during the period of optimism and reinvention that followed World War II, and both the distillery and the Genesis Decanter were inspired by this era of reinvention. In keeping with the outstanding architectural complexity of the new Macallan Distillery, this whisky is presented in an exceptional and bespoke crystal decanter. Burgess Studio designed the presentation case for the decanter, which was crafted by NEJ Stevenson, Her Majesty’s cabinetmakers. 

Another lot of interest in this sale is the Hakushu peated malt whisky. In this centennial edition, the Hakushu 18-year-old peated whisky is given a whole new perspective. Fresh and mild with a smoky core, this single malt is remarkably smooth, resulting from maturation across several casks.
