The upcoming Sotheby’s From the Archive event brings to auction five pieces of memorabilia from across several industries. One lot closes for bidding each day, starting on July 27th. This begins with a 2014 “King James” Miami Heat jersey worn in-game by LeBron James. That year, the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets played in what would later be called the “Nickname Game.” During that game, every player wore their favorite nickname on their jersey, from James’ “King James” to Kevin Garnett’s “Big Ticket.”
Basketball collectors can also consider a Michael Jordan game-worn and signed Washington Wizards jersey. Jordan returned to the NBA in 2001 after his second retirement and joined the Wizards. Among the highlights of his two-season run with the team was becoming the oldest player in NBA history to score 50 points in a single game.
Those interested in film memorabilia will find a pair of Nike MAGs signed by Michael J. Fox. Nike created the MAGs in 2011 to honor the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II. Marty McFly (played by Fox) wears the then-fictitious MAGs while racing across Hill Valley on a hoverboard. Interested bidders can view the lots and register to bid on the Sotheby’s website.
