Freeman’s Auctions Presents Robert Henri’s Famous Spanish Gypsy ( Dolores) Painting

Robert Henri was an American painter well-known for featuring urban realist subjects. The upcoming Freemans’ Auction features an oil painting Spanish Gypsy (Dolores) by Henri, executed in 1924. It depicts Dolores, a Madrid-based gypsy woman with her hands folded neatly in front of her. The available painting beautifully captures the spirit and complexity of Spanish culture. It also shows Henri’s decades-long fascination with Roma subjects, which he featured in many paintings. This painting and other featured lots come from the collection of Charles and Virginia Bowden. 

Another key highlight of the auction is a painting by American artist Bo Bartlett. The Promised Land is considered one of Barlett’s most sought-after works.
