François Linke’s Louis XVI-Style Commode Is Featured in Fine French Furniture & Decoration Sale

Kodner Galleries will present its Fine French Furniture & Decoration Auction this holiday season. Leading this event is a François Linke antique French Louis XVI-styled commode, modeled after the work of Guillaume Benneman and Joseph Stockel. Attractive features include a white marble ormolu mantel clock mounted on a marble top. Fine acanthus and garland motifs appear across the surface of the commode. The piece has an armorial scene centralized on the large door with fluted column supports, and it stands on four paw feet. Another notable lot in the sale is an antique French ormolu patinated clock in bronze. This annular clock is held by three figures draped with golden garland details around their arms and waists. They support the spherical clock. The base is a marble platform mounted with a rosette and scroll motif.

Fine art offerings in the auction include paintings from E. Giachi and Felice Carena. The 19th-century Italian oil on canvas by E. Giachi is titled An Exciting Night. It depicts a woman surrounded by men playing a musical instrument and singing to her. From Symbolist painter Felice Carena comes an artwork titled Natura Morta, signed and dated 1966. Three bottles of well-preserved Perrier Jouet Grand Brut champagne will also be available.
