Perlman. Leading session one is Francis Augustus Silva’s Early Morning Sailing. Silva (1835 – 1886) was a second-generation Hudson River School painter from New York. He is best known as an American Luminist painter who captured the marine life around the Hudson River and the coastline of Massachusetts. The available painting shows a sunrise with atmospheric effects. Also notable is an oil on board depicting sharecroppers titled Picking Cotton by William Aiken Walker (1838 – 1921).
