The upcoming Error Coinage US Coins Month-Long Online Auction will present a 1973-S 50-cent Kennedy half-dollar. This mint error on a proof shows three visible strikes on each side with the date and mintmark indicated on the final strike. Also featured in this event, offered by Heritage Auctions, is a 1943 one-cent coin struck on a silver dime planchet. Because pennies were struck on zinc-coated steel planchets at the time, they resembled dimes in both size and color. This coin is centered and well-detailed. The left rims are absent due to the smaller diameter of the dime planchet.
A 1977-S five-cent nickel struck on a copper cent planchet and a triple-struck 1973-D Roosevelt dime can also be found. Rounding out the highlighted lots is a five-cent Jefferson nickel that was reverse indented by a ten-cent planchet.
