English, French Antiques & Estates Day 1

Austin Auction Gallery offers a selection of English and French antiques during the first session of the upcoming two-day auction. A highlight of this first day is a jumper carousel horse by Charles Carmel, who was among the most prolific carvers of the era. Carmel carousel animals were highly decorated with fish scale blankets, tassels, armor, and intricate manes. The available lot features a peek-a-boo swirling mane, intricately carved trappings, and a natural horsehair tail.

Diminutive furniture like Georgian and Spanish style trunks and drawers will also be presented in this sale. Among the notable furniture lots is a 17th century Spanish console table with a single board top above three-paneled frieze drawers.
