Eclectic Collection of Estates Worldwide

As its name implies, the upcoming Akiba Antiques event brings to auction disparate lots from numerous categories and countries of origin. Two oil paintings by Colombian artist Nestor Romero Arevalo are featured in this upcoming Eclectic Collection of Estates Worldwide sale. Both pieces combine religious iconography, such as angel wings and a crown of thorns, with male sexuality.

From Romanian sculptor Demetre Chiparus comes a piece titled Russian Dancers. The two dancers stand mid-movement side by side on top of a marble plinth base. Chiparus’ work regularly combines ivory and bronze to contrast the skin tone of his subjects with their outfits. Sculpture collectors will also find a bronze piece by German artist Otto Poertzel among the highlighted lots. In the sculpture, a woman’s hair, sleeves, and dress flow as she walks her dogs.
